Why I Still Wear Blazers in Summer (And How You Can Too)
Every summer, I hear the same thing from clients who walk into our studio.
“Ravi, blazers are great… but Delhi summers are too hot.”
And honestly, their concern is completely valid.
Most people have only experienced heavy winter blazers — thick fabrics, full lining, heavy padding. Of course those would feel unbearable in summer.
But what many people don’t realise is that summer blazers are a completely different category.
In fact, I personally enjoy wearing blazers throughout summer. The secret lies in choosing the right fabric and the right construction.
Over the years, I’ve developed a few favourite picks that work beautifully in warm weather.
Here are the five summer blazers I keep reaching for.
1. Linen Blazers — My Absolute Summer Favourite

If I had to choose just one blazer for summer, it would always be linen.
A well-made linen blazer with lightweight construction and minimal lining feels almost like wearing an extra shirt layer rather than a jacket.
I usually style them with:
- cotton trousers
- round-neck T-shirts
- polo shirts
The result is relaxed yet polished — perfect for summer meetings, dinners, or travel.
2. Seersucker Cotton Blazers — Light and Playfu
Another fabric I love for summer is seersucker cotton.
The slightly textured surface keeps the fabric lifted off the skin, which improves airflow and comfort in hot weather.
During summers, I enjoy experimenting with lighter colours like:
- pastel blues
- soft pinks
- beige tones
These blazers feel fresh, breathable, and effortlessly stylish.
3. Cotton Blazers — The Everyday Classic

Cotton blazers are another excellent option for warm weather.
But here’s an important detail many people overlook:
construction matters just as much as the fabric.
A summer blazer should ideally have:
- breathable lining (cotton or bamboo)
- half-lining or minimal lining
- light shoulder structure
When made correctly, a cotton blazer remains cool, comfortable, and sharp.
4. Wool-Silk-Linen Blends — For a Sharper Look

When I want a slightly more refined appearance, I often turn to wool-silk-linen blends.
These fabrics combine the elegance of wool with the breathability of linen and the subtle sheen of silk.
The result is a blazer that:
- drapes beautifully
- feels lightweight
- looks extremely sophisticated
It’s perfect for occasions where you want to look elegant without feeling overdressed in summer.
5. Stretch Knit Blazers — The New Favourite Among Young Men

The last category I see gaining popularity, especially among younger clients, is stretch knit blazers.
Personally, they are not my first choice, but their comfort is undeniable.
These jackets are typically:
- cotton-based
- stretchable
- lightweight
- unstructured with little or no shoulder padding
Many international brands are bringing these into their collections because they move easily with the body and feel extremely comfortable.
A Final Thought
The real problem is not blazers.
The real problem is wearing winter blazers in summer.
When the right fabric, construction, and lining are chosen, a blazer can actually be surprisingly comfortable even in warm weather.
And more importantly, it keeps you looking sharp and put together.
So the next time someone says,
“Blazers are too hot for summer,”
I usually smile and say,
“Only the wrong ones are.”
